![]() This measurement is most commonly employed for Newtonian liquids, which do not change viscosity in response to applied force (shear rate). When should Kinematic Viscosity Measurements be used? The dynamic viscosity measurement is most useful for liquids that vary their apparent properties as force or pressure is applied. When you want to know a fluid's internal resistance, or the force necessary to transfer one plane of the liquid over another, you apply/test dynamic viscosity. When should Dynamic Viscosity Measurements be used? Stokes and Poise appear to have received the same answer, but in two distinct ways. Absolute viscosity is calculated by dividing kinematic viscosity by fluid density. ![]() What does Kinematic viscosity signify? When to use kinematic viscosity?ĭynamic viscosity is a force measurement, whereas kinematic viscosity is a velocity measurement. The property of a fluid that provides resistance to the transport of one layer of fluid over an adjacent layer is called viscosity. Viscosity is a physical property that describes how well simple fluids flow. Fluid density is included in the measurement of kinematic viscosity. This signifies that the fluid's density or weight aids its flow. The fluid is not being pushed by any external force. It's the length of time it takes for a known amount of fluid to flow a certain distance. A centipoise is one hundredth of a poise, or one millipascal-second (mPa⋅s) in SI units (1 cP = 10−3 Pa⋅s = 1 mPa⋅s)ġ centistoke (cSt) equals 1 millimetre squared per second (mm2/s) is the formula for kinematic viscosity. The dynamic viscosity is measured as poise. Centipoise (cP) is recommended for easier readings. The force required to make it flow is used to assess internal friction, which has been given the name poise. Internal friction in various fluids is overcome by an external force in order for them to flow. When individuals talk about viscosity, they're usually referring to either kinematic or dynamic viscosity. These phrases are generated from the measurement of viscosity. ![]() In actuality, the term "viscosity" encompasses a number of diverse concepts. It is used to define the thickness of a product or how well it flows. I have many collaborators in these efforts, including Richard Craster and Richard Kerswell.Viscosity appears to be a straightforward idea at first view. Much of my work is theoretical, focussing on mathematical modelling, but I also do experiments (some of which took place in the backyard and cellar occasionally even in a lab). However, the underlying idea (the reduction of governing equations to simpler, useful models) is a powerful tool that can be brought to bear in these applications also. These materials are mostly granular media, and require a different physical framework. Similar models are also used for landslides, avalanches, and the dynamics of sand. The rheology of mud and ice has several similarities with that of lava, and the same non-Newtonian fluid models can be used to describe how they flow. Related geological problems include mud flows and glacier mechanics. But by using asymptotic methods, simpler versions can be built for use by geologists. Computations with the full three-dimensional equations is an inefficient route for such a model, partly because the rheology of cooling lava is so complicated. That is, a general theoretical model that incorporates the essential physical ingredients and can be used to compute the flow of lava under terrestrial and extra-terrestrial conditions. For example, for lava flow, the main goal is to develop a "shallow-lava theory". My work in this area is focused on simplifying these equations to gain insight into the flow dynamics. Unfortunately, fluid models that build in the rheology significantly complicate the governing equations. In lava, for example, the microstructure is provided by a network of interlocked silicate crystals, and endows the fluid with an internal strength that allows lava to withstand a certain amount of imposed stress before it flows. Often, the 'rheology' arises because the fluid in question builds up a microstructure at the molecular level which becomes sufficiently extensive to affect the macroscopic properties of the fluid. Aside from air and water, most of the fluids we encounter in physical and industrial processes are "non-Newtonian" (meaning that there is no simple relationship between the stress and the rate of strain). I would suggest that hooking your existing peripherals up to whatever iMac Apple release (I'd expect 6-12 months wait for that) will give you a far superior editing rig with a much longer lifespan. It's particularly notable that the only ARM Macs right now are low-power models - there's no ARM iMac or Mac Pro yet, and it has been speculated that Apple are working on much higher performance versions of the architecture for those models. However, holding out for 2nd gen products with higher RAM capacities will also likely mean you'll benefit from other improvements Apple make as they get real-world feedback from early adopters in the field about problems, incompatibilities and performance weaknesses they didn't/couldn't anticipate or couldn't fix in the 1st gen release timeframe. The new gen Macs have very tight integration between the RAM and SSD - when your projects are too large for your RAM, you'll not see as much of a slowdown as previous generation Macs. Can you afford to buy both a base-model Mac Mini now AND a next-gen product when they come out, factoring in the high cost of memory upgrades from Apple?.Can you live with your current system performance for 6-to-12 months until the next generation of Macs with higher memory capacities are released?.What should I do? Is it a smart choice? Would I be able to edit Sony 4K footages with the 8gb Mac mini? Since I already have a monitor, mouse and keyboard, and I’m stuck at home due to covid, I was thinking that probably I should sell it, get 1780€ and spend 780 on a mac mini base model, and keep the 1000€ in my pocket. I’m thinking about selling it to a guy in my city (he would give me 100€ above the price I paid!!) and temporarily getting a BASE MODEL Mac Mini (8gb ram 256gb ssd) while waiting for the new MacBook to come out because it probably hold more value since it’s a base model and I can use the remaining 1000€ that I would save for something else. It is actually a bargain here in Italy, because the price to buy it from apple (same config) is 1930€ (2360$) What should I do now? I received this MacBook Pro and I don’t know if I should unwrap it. So I bought this MacBook Pro but now there are everyday more and more rumors about the new upcoming MacBook Pro 14” and 16” with thinner bezels and M1X or M2 chip! ![]() ![]() I have a small media agency and my MacBook Pro from 2015 can’t keep up with the 4K videos anymore. It was expected that a continuing resolution would be required to fund the government past October 1, 2015. The passage of a budget resolution opened the way for budget reconciliation procedures to be used to repeal the Affordable Care Act on a simple majority vote, although a presidential veto of such legislation was expected. The bill envisioned increasing military spending and decreasing social programs, with the goal of having a balanced budget by 2025. Congressional budget resolutions are non-binding and largely symbolic, in that the actual spending levels are specified in much greater detail in the appropriations bills to be passed later in the year. ![]() It was the first budget resolution successfully passed by Congress in over five years. Ĭongress passed its budget resolution in May 2015. It envisioned large tax increases on corporations and the wealthy, which were expected to be opposed by Congress, to fund programs in education and infrastructure. The administration requested funding levels for discretionary spending that were 7% over the budget caps specified in the Budget Control Act of 2011, roughly equally split between defense and non-defense programs. The Obama administration's budget was transmitted to Congress on February 2, 2015. The budget and appropriations legislation will be the first passed since Republicans gained majorities in both houses of the United States Congress in the 2014 midterm elections. Although the word "sequestration" was widely applied to refer to these cuts, even a continuing resolution would not cause another round of across-the-board sequestration cuts as in 2013 because the FY2016 discretionary defense cap is still slightly larger than the FY2015 cap in nominal terms. Ĭoncern was expressed that the BCA caps for defense were far below the Obama administration's budget request and would lead to cuts relative to these increased levels. The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013 increased the budget caps for FY2014 and FY2015 by $45 billion and $18 billion, respectively. These were first applied in FY2013 they resulted in across-the-board sequestration cuts because that budget was funded through a full-year continuing resolution that exceeded the budget caps. The Budget Control Act of 2011 (BCA) had established spending caps on defense and non-defense spending. The final funding package was passed as an omnibus spending bill, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2016, enacted on December 18, 2015. The government was initially funded through a series of three temporary continuing resolutions. The requested budget was submitted to the 114th Congress on February 2, 2015. While spending as a share of GDP will fall slightly in 2021, it is projected to grow almost every year after that, reaching 23.4 percent of GDP by 2030.The United States Federal Budget for fiscal year 2016 began as a budget proposed by President Barack Obama to fund government operations for Octo– September 30, 2016. ![]() Spending is now growing once again as a share of GDP, projected to stay around 21 percent of GDP in FY 2020, which is its highest mark as a share of GDP since 2012. While spending actually shrank as a share of GDP between 20 – from 20.8 percent of GDP to 20.2 percent – that trend has entirely reversed. This spending growth is true both in dollars and as a share of the economy. Spending in FY 2020 is projected to be at least $200 billion more than 2019, about two-thirds of which is due to increasing mandatory spending and net interest, while the remaining third comes from recent discretionary spending increases. That trend has only accelerated since 2016, with spending increasing by nearly $340 billion between FY 20 alone. Total federal spending has grown every year since 2013, growing from $3.45 trillion in FY 2013 to a projected $4.65 trillion in FY 2020. Yet, since President Trump's election in 2016, total spending has grown by nearly $800 billion – from $3.85 trillion (20.8 percent of Gross Domestic Product) in 2016 to $4.65 trillion (21.0 percent of GDP) in 2020. The Administration cites the need to restrain spending as its way to address our unsustainable debt trajectory. President Trump's Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 budget calls for about $3.2 trillion in net deficit reduction over the next decade by our estimate, including nearly $2 trillion in cuts to discretionary spending. ![]() There are a handful of dispersed campsites south of the lake if all the spots at the campground are full.
