I would suggest that hooking your existing peripherals up to whatever iMac Apple release (I'd expect 6-12 months wait for that) will give you a far superior editing rig with a much longer lifespan. It's particularly notable that the only ARM Macs right now are low-power models - there's no ARM iMac or Mac Pro yet, and it has been speculated that Apple are working on much higher performance versions of the architecture for those models. However, holding out for 2nd gen products with higher RAM capacities will also likely mean you'll benefit from other improvements Apple make as they get real-world feedback from early adopters in the field about problems, incompatibilities and performance weaknesses they didn't/couldn't anticipate or couldn't fix in the 1st gen release timeframe. The new gen Macs have very tight integration between the RAM and SSD - when your projects are too large for your RAM, you'll not see as much of a slowdown as previous generation Macs. Can you afford to buy both a base-model Mac Mini now AND a next-gen product when they come out, factoring in the high cost of memory upgrades from Apple?.Can you live with your current system performance for 6-to-12 months until the next generation of Macs with higher memory capacities are released?.What should I do? Is it a smart choice? Would I be able to edit Sony 4K footages with the 8gb Mac mini? Since I already have a monitor, mouse and keyboard, and I’m stuck at home due to covid, I was thinking that probably I should sell it, get 1780€ and spend 780 on a mac mini base model, and keep the 1000€ in my pocket. I’m thinking about selling it to a guy in my city (he would give me 100€ above the price I paid!!) and temporarily getting a BASE MODEL Mac Mini (8gb ram 256gb ssd) while waiting for the new MacBook to come out because it probably hold more value since it’s a base model and I can use the remaining 1000€ that I would save for something else. It is actually a bargain here in Italy, because the price to buy it from apple (same config) is 1930€ (2360$) What should I do now? I received this MacBook Pro and I don’t know if I should unwrap it. So I bought this MacBook Pro but now there are everyday more and more rumors about the new upcoming MacBook Pro 14” and 16” with thinner bezels and M1X or M2 chip! ![]() ![]() I have a small media agency and my MacBook Pro from 2015 can’t keep up with the 4K videos anymore. I just received my MacBook Pro M1 512gb ssd and 16gb RAM and I only need it to edit in FCP, and to use photoshop sometimes.
